Engineering

Aircraft Electric Motors is staffed with highly qualified engineers who play an integral role in the success of our company. Our engineers assist in every aspect of our operation — prototyping, manufacturing, reverse engineering, data collection, and procedure development. Customers needing additional support can be placed in direct contact with our senior engineers, who carry a combined 100+ years in the aerospace industry. AEM is AS9100D (NSF-ISR) and NADCAP certified, and an FAA, EASA, and UK CAA Part 145 approved repair station — so a project can move from concept to prototype to production, and into repair, without ever leaving our facility.

Prototyping

Prototyping is the lifeblood of every concept and design, which is why we’re committed to success on every project we take on. A prototype exists to be tested, and ours give the end user the ability to evaluate design, dimensions, movement, flaws, and compatibility with other components before committing to final production. We work side by side with your personnel to make sure you get the prototype data you need before making the leap. Thanks to our fully functional machine shop, 3D modeling, and 3D printing, we build every part of the prototype concept in-house — which keeps iteration fast and your data secure.

Reverse engineering, including parts with no drawings.

Have an obsolete or sole-source component and no manufacturing data package? We deconstruct an existing part sample, capture full dimensional and material data, and build the prints and documentation needed for repeatable future production — a direct answer to obsolescence and diminishing-manufacturing-source problems. Where it helps, we recommend design or material improvements rather than reproducing a known weakness.

Information security you can trust.

AEM knows the importance of protecting your designs. We have systems in place to keep everything — from renderings to the final product — secure and ITAR-compliant, giving our customers peace of mind. From initial design and concept to completed prototype and into production, we work with your team to deliver a quality product, done right the first time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will AEM take on low-volume or single-unit prototyping projects?

A: Yes. Single units, small qualification runs, and prototype builds are core work for us.

Q: Can you reverse engineer a component with no original drawings?

A: Yes. We work from an existing part sample to recreate the full data package.

Q: How do you protect our designs?

A: Information-security controls across the workflow, with ITAR-compliant handling.

Q: What happens after the prototype is approved?

A: The same facility moves it into qualification quantities and full production — no outside shop.
